Non-Exempt General Definition of Work Performs difficult administrative work planning and supervising Parks and Recreation construction, repair and maintenance projects, ensuring work is completed in accordance with instructions, preparing and maintaining appropriate records and files, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned.
Work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Parks and Recreation.
Work hours for this position are 7:
30 a.
m.
to 4:
30 p.
m.
Monday through Friday with 1 hour for lunch.
Hours are subject to change due to work demands or as needed.

Essential Functions Arranges, attends and participates in division, department and special meetings.
Assigns, directs and reviews contracted Park maintenance activities Assists director with capital and long-term maintenance planning Performs duties of Public Works liaison for logistical support and planning of City planned events Examines completed work for approval; provides feedback and/or suggestions; plans next task.
Oversees rental and special events rental program Generates quotes and comparisons for equipment and resources.
Responds to inquiries, requests and complaints regarding Parks and Recreation Division.
Assists with the City's snow and ice removal program.
Assures sub-contractors are performing all contracted services.
With direction from the Director manages playground safety program All other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in building and grounds maintenance and repair; thorough knowledge of environmental best practices as they relate to park and recreation maintenance; thorough knowledge of hazards and safety precautions associated with maintenance work; thorough knowledge of applicable codes and pertinent inspection and safety requirements; ability to recognize and diagnose problems; ability to make time and materials estimates; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to plan and supervise the work of others; ability to work from sketches, blueprints and drawings; ability to prepare maps; ability to maintain records; ability to operate motorized vehicles, including towing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public Education and Experience Bachelor's degree with coursework in Parks and Recreation, or related field and considerable experience in maintenance and repair work and moderate supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certified Playground Safety Inspector preferred.
Physical Requirements This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, frequently requires walking, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions, frequently requires working near moving mechanical parts and exposure to vibration and occasionally requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to the risk of electrical shock and exposure to blood borne pathogens and will be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.
g.
field work, business office, light traffic).
Special Requirements CPSI.
CPR Certified.
First Aid Certified.
