2K a year 22 hours ago 22 hours ago 22 hours ago Position Overview The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overall supply chain, vendor management, and commodity management activities.
This position includes establishing and maintaining strategic sourcing relationships with emphasis on availability, quality, delivery, and cost.
The Purchasing Manager will be part of a cross functional team designed to onboard new business.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Works to supply products and services that meet or exceed the customers' expectations.
Follows the documented quality systems and processes to satisfy our customers' needs.
Supervise or perform duties within the purchasing process.
Researches and evaluates suppliers, establishing buying programs, purchasing and negotiating materials and supplies, determining method of procurement, purchasing operational supplies, receives and grants approval for purchases of goods or services, evaluating contract performance to ensure compliance with obligations and to determine need for changes, and analyzing changes or new issues in materials and supply to reduce costs and improve quality.
Interviews and confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, terms of sales, and delivery schedule.
Maintain MRP database for proper sourcing, procurement lead times, order quantities, prices and internal delivery requirements (and all other parameters).
Communicates with internal departments to quote material, confer with vendors to obtain product and service information, material claims, supplier reviews, material adjustments, and the like.
Assists Finance in the accounts payable process as it relates to suppliers.
Maintains all Quality Management System and ISO standards and processes as they relate to the purchasing function.
Support control and storage of inventory and Operations MRO in line with lean principles (e.
g.
visible FIFO, supermarket pull systems, Kanban).
Confer with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.
Responsibilities also include helping to define, develop and refine the purchasing system to meet the needs of internal and external customers.
May assist President and other managers in other duties or special projects as needed.

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources.

Qualifications This position requires the individual to have a bachelor's degree (B.
A.
or B.
S.
) in business/purchasing from a four-year college or university; or 7-10 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Supply Chain planning/purchasing or Manufacturing/Enterprise Resource Planning in a manufacturing environment required.
Prior supervisory experience.
Knowledge of supplier relationships, complex contract negotiations, JIT/demand flow philosophies, and legal issues involved with purchasing.
Prior experience with steel, steel products, other metals, fabrication, and manufacturing.
Experience with blueprint interpretation, with a solid understanding of material sizing per print.
Previous experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV and ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems.
Experience with Lean Procurement practices or Total Cost of Ownership.
Strong analytical skills Supervisory Responsibilities This position directs and supervises the Purchasing Specialist.
